Storm Tea's Earl Grey is a classic interpretation of this most quintessentially English style of tea. It is a black tea comprised of organic orange-pekoe leaves from Sri Lanka's Harrington Estate, gently infused with natural bergamot oil. It is best served black but will also take a drop of milk or a slice of lemon.
The 40 hectare Harrington Estate has been producing organic teas since 2011, and is located at 1,200 metres above sea level in the Dimbula region of the Central Mountain range of Sri Lanka. There are 110 permanent workers on the farm who live in houses provided by the estate. Each house has a good sized garden that allows the workers and their families to keep chickens and grow vegetables for their own consumption. There is also a school on the farm for the children of the workers. The owners wanted to protect the land, and to remove the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. This has allowed many animals to thrive in the lands around the estate, including wild boar, wildcats, deer, squirrels, eagles and many other birds. There has also been a noticeable increase in the bee population throughout the estate.
