An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team here in Kendal as our Head Roaster & Operations Manager.
Located right at the gateway to the adventure playground that is the English Lake District, we’re an unashamedly modern roastery, with a sourcing strategy focussed on quality, provenance and relationships, and we’re proud to supply some of the leading coffee shops, restaurants and hotels in the UK and beyond.
The ideal candidate will be detail-orientated, process-driven, and technically-minded, with a wealth of experience roasting high-quality coffee, and of managing general roastery operations. They will also be expected to provide training and guidance to our Production & Roasting Assistant, and to oversee strict QC and maintenance protocol, alongside general inventory and operations management.
We roast on a Loring S15 Falcon and S35 Kestrel. Experience roasting on Loring is preferable, but not essential.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Please find below a non-exhaustive list of roles and responsibilities of the Head Roaster & Operations Manager.
- Creating roast profiles for new coffees.
- Providing training and guidance to our Production & Roasting Assistant.
- Overseeing rigorous QC of green and roasted coffee.
- Monitoring inventory of green and roasted coffee.
- Monitoring inventory of all ancillary items - LPG, packaging, Canton Tea, Bare Bones hot chocolate, equipment, merch etc.
- Overseeing machine and roastery cleaning and maintenance.
- Overseeing health & safety protocol.
- Willingness to help with production roasting, packing and dispatch where required.
